Share : Introduction to the Healthy Lifestyle

(What can you do with healthy lifestyle photo by D Sharon Pruitt
Share Healthy Lifestyle - I see a lot of disseases instead of good health around me, I see people who do not know anything about healthy lifestyle and its importance for our life, I see a lot of ignorance and very little knowledge. That is why I have started to write this blog.

Most of people are not able to imagine the importance of good health. If you do not have it, your life is very restricted, e.g. you cannot do your favourite sport, you cannot enjoy the nightlife, you cannot have a nice sex with your loving partner, you cannot eat and drink what you want to and you cannot do many other things.

I know that most of you do not want to spend much time with some kind of exercises and diets, because you want to enjoy your life. In fact you do not have to. There are a lot of small improvements of your everyday life you can do in very little time. And that is the main objective of this blog - investing a little time and force to have a life more healthy, comfortable and active to the end of your days.

Enjoy it a new wa to healthy living!

Share : Changing Your Lifestyle Slowly

Healthy ganglion
You already know the power of healthy mind for changing your lifestyle. So what will be the next step in your way of improving your health?

It is not good to do some changes in your lifestyle too fast. Why? Your body is very compicated organism, mostly based on biochemical or bioelectrical processes. If you are used to live and eat some way, the body reflects it and adapts its processes.

If you change your lifestyle too fast, these processes stays in the old way for some time and your body will have deficiency of some important substances, that was made based on your previous lifestyle. This can lead to some negative states e.g. you will be tired, have headache, be ill (because of weak immune system), have anxieties or depressions, and in the worst cases your body gets some kind of shock (hypoglycemic , etc.).

So it is very important to start slowly changing your lifestyle. The best way is to stop your bad habits (such as taking drugs, smoking, drinking alcohol a lot, ...). With this, your lifestyle changes from negative to neutral.

After that it is right way to start with good habits such as exercises, healthy meals, positive mind, etc. So your lifestyle changes from neutral to positive.

The worst thing you can do is to migrate your normal eating to vegetarian, vegan o macrobiotics overnight.

Share : Bad Habits - For Drugs

In this post we will try to improve our health with canceling the first and the worst habit for our lifestyle - the drugs. Let us see why are the drugs so important for us and what can we do with it.

History:

Drugs has been connected with people for very long time. There were generaly two purposes for making and taking drugs. The first was medicine (pharmaceutical companies are doing the same thing today) and the second was religion. Especially shamans used the drugs to improve their abilities, such as communication with astral word, healing or predicting the future. These shamans were (and still are) very special people. If somebody wanted to be a shaman, he had to do some very dangerous exams as proof himself to be immune to poisons. Of course many candidates died before they started to be shamans. Only people with exceptional health and genetically perfect adaption abilities could survive these exams. Remember - they did it for their people, not for themselves!

Today:

Today we have very selfish reasons to use drugs - mainly to escape from reality and problems or just for not to be bored. This is very bad, because the drugs cannot give us this goal. Problems stay the same, reality too and sooner or later we have to come back to face them. Also the most of people do not have exceptional health and abilities as shamans did, so their life time shortens significantly.

The next problem comparing to using drugs by shamans is the fact, that drugs are very big business. And if you have very good business, you want to have better one and do everything to earn more and more money. So today the drugs are much more dangerous than in history, because of a lot of chemicals processing to improve efficiency and getting 'loyal customers' dependent upon the products.

Finally we can say, that taking drugs is nonsense, that cannot give us anything, except destroying our body and making our life more difficult. You will be the servant of drugs and you will do only what 'they' want.

How to stop - Phase 1 - Experimenting

If you are just experimenting or thinking about to start using some drugs, it is not late. The first thing you have to do is to think about the reason of your behaviour. Are you tired, bored, ill, do you have too many problems, did somebody die?

Try to increase the amount of endorphins in your blood (these things makes you happy) - do aerobic sports, eat chocolate, bananas, have a good sex or take some L-Tryptophan. Or just focus on some activity - sport, job, your relationship and you become happier. It takes some time, but you will make it.

How to stop - Phase 2 - Light dependance

You tried it and it was good, you are taking some drugs time to time, almost with friends, but you do not need it.
Maybe you are lucky and your dependance is not physical yet.

Try to do everyting from Phase 1
and do not take any potion. If you make it, good for you. If you must take it, you are unfortunatelly in Phase 3.

How to stop - Phase 3 - Medium and Heavy dependance

You need it, you tried to stop, but you were not successful.
You cannot stop alone, you are behind the border! You need specialist to help you.

Share : Bad Habits - For Smoking

Share For Healthy - Smoking is probably the most common bad habit for your healthy lifestyle. 5 milion deaths is cause by smoking every year. (source WHO) So why do people smoke and how is possible to stop smoking?

History:
As drugs tobacco is closely connected with the human history. The first tobacco users were people from ancient civilizations all arround the world about 5 000 B.C. (source Wikipedia). Of course as drugs, tobacco were used because of religional purposes (yes, our well-known shamans).

The most famous fact from history is probably using tobacco by Native Americans from the time of Wild-West (you know it from westerns). These people used calumet - ceremonial smoking pipe. Remember the word "ceremonial", which does not mean, they used it for the style or escaping from reality.

In Europe there were some waves of smoking as a cultural phenomena. Finaly in last 50 years the main product for smoking is the cigarette.

Generally you can divide smokers to these groups:

Cigarette
The worst you can smoke. Today's cigarettes are not from pure tobacco, but full of artificial chemicals to enhance the taste, smoke, smell and nicotine absorption. Some sources say, there are more than 4 000 substances in cigarettes, most of them not really good for us.

Because cigarettes are inhaled, your lungs will be full of tar (permanent status, you cannot remove it), you have great risc of many cancer types.

Kretek
Tobacco combined with clove was made at the beging of 20th century for curing lung's allergies. Less dangerous than cigarette, but still not healthy as predicted.

Pipe
Pipe smokers has mostly more quality tobacco, they do not inhale smoke to lungs and they are less physicaly dependent due to less smoking in general. So in this case less dangerous than previous types, but still risc of tongue cancer.

Cigar
If you are the right cigar smoker, you will have it in your mouth aproximately once a minute. Most of the time the cigar is resting in the ashtray. The most quality tobacco used, usually without added chemicals. If these rules are applied, there is less health danger comparing to previous types.

A bear in the streets of Filettino

Emergency contraception Before the debates careful

Here we are with a theme of women's health "sensitive" the pill five days, one that can prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse, when taken within 120 hours. Already on the market in the United States and in many European countries, Italy has just received the approval of the Board of Health, but with a "BUT"

a pregnancy test on the blood required to rule out that it is already in place to become pregnant.

So Aidos (the Italian Association for Women in Development) has sent an open letter to the President of AIFA, the Italian Medicines Agency, which will have to approve this new emergency contraceptive, with a request: exclude compulsory of the test.

Even the most gynecologists is contrary to the tests. Women have expressed, experts as well and we'll see.

But when it comes to reproductive health, contraception more or less of an emergency, the abortion pill, in vitro fertilization (by the way: Italy is the first place to pregnancies with frozen embryos, as has just been reported in the Stockholm European Conference play, despite having one of the most controversial laws in Europe) the question always becomes more complicated and intertwined with the ethical debate, where the views are wasted and overshadow other considerations, perhaps the most important. Here at least two.

Meanwhile the pill for five days is a "therapy" is used to fix a mess that is often caused by a lack of "prevention", ie contraception awareness, particularly among young people.

It 's true that the pill for five days (like the one already on the market, the next day) is for emergencies, but it is also true that a survey conducted by the Italian Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (Sigo) of more than a thousand of young people, reveals that at least one in four teenagers has used it (even the official figures say that a total of 360,000 packs of morning-after pills sold in Italy in 2009, half has been used by under 20).

The minors, then, are responsible, alone, 3.4 of the total of all induced abortions

Not only that, always according to the survey Sigo, just a guy on three take on holiday contraception, even though 64 percent believe that occasional live an adventure (the Sigo has promoted a program of information on contraception).

The second consideration is the side effects of emergency contraception. Take ulipristal, the name of the drug, it is like drinking a glass of water (click here to read the card scientific).

At least ten percent of people have problems after administration. One more reason not to be taken lightly this method and not get lost in the maze of ethical debate.

A Twizy harlequin inspired by Picasso

A Twizy "harlequin" in honor to the genius of Pablo Picasso. On the occasion of the exhibition "Picasso. Masterpieces from the National Picasso Museum in Paris, "at the Palazzo Reale in Milan, Renault has a unique model of electric cars. The author of the work, which was inspired by a famous painting by the Spanish artist, is an Italian, Paolo Gonzato.

If a dog is worth more than a child

It 'a bit' I think so, but I was afraid to say so. Yes, because in today's world almost sounds like a profanation. Then a few days ago, the Corriere della Sera, on the front page, I saw a headline "We think more dogs than children," an interview with Laura Girotto Gian Antonio Stella, a nun who worked for 18 years in Ethiopia. And I got a start. But then I'm mad! Please, read it. The truth is that someone like Laura, who for years has to do with the essence of life, when he returned to Italy and looks around, he sees things that shocked. And living God that there are those who still shocked, screaming his outrage and forces us to think. I live in Milan and for some time now I have the distinct feeling that in this city, (maybe elsewhere, I hear you say) there is more attention, respect and love for animals and children and the elderly. Try to get in a bar with a stroller - like it happened to me - and see the reaction of people: aches, endurance, rudeness. Then try to enter with a bulky wheelchair with an elderly, and disabled. Take a good look reactions: aches, endurance, rudeness. A final test: revenue with a dog, small or large: hear uncontrolled squeals of happiness. Try going to the market (with the same stroller and wheelchair same as above) and see what happens. A few months ago, in St. Mark's, while I was shopping, exhausted, including heavy bags and bottles, a man yelled: "Oh sure that if we come to the market with the stroller ...". (For the record, my answer was very vulgar, this is not reportable). The list could go on ad libitum .... Conversely, the shops, restaurants, markets are full of dogs and cats. Evidently there is no longer the old standard of education - for years shared by civil society - that animals do not impose on other people, especially in public because some people might not like, who would be afraid, be allergic and quant 'another. But try to rebel against you if you go into a restaurant and the table next to yours, there is a dog: you may lynching. Well, if all this are added considerations sister Laura about the consumerist aspect related to animals, the circle is closed. Because it really is not just a matter of education, and therefore formal (this maybe I could get over it) is mostly a matter of substance, approach to things, values (if all goes well upside down, if it goes wrong vanished). As Laura says: "And 'this disproportion that angers me." I think you should love animals, do not make human-like puppets. I know I'm old and unpopular, but this is my thought. And let's be clear: my no is indeed no lack of love for animals. E 'desire to priority. The same love, respect, care, solidarity, care, generosity, tolerance, availability today that the company has for the animals, I would like them to children and the elderly. No, and I would like more for children and the elderly. (PS please the only comment that I ask you to do is: "animals are often better than some men" .... please, not this)

Women and International Cooperation: too many contradictions?

The micro-credit schemes for women from Senegal. The campaigns against female circumcision. Action against female infanticide in China. And those against the segregation of women in Afghanistan. For years, international cooperation rightly combats gender differences around the world. And not only that. According to the latest Siscos (Services for International Cooperation), almost half (49%) of young Italians who choose to do a dangerous job and challenging as that of cooperating are female.

But all this effort of women for women does it work?

"Often we focus only on the effects of discrimination and work a little on the causes," says Raffaella Nail of the International Network of Women for Peace which is part of the International House of Women in Rome. Raffaella, along with other colleagues, for years dealing with international cooperation. "NGOs do not always succeed in building relationships on par with the beneficiary communities. And there are cases where the prevailing paternalistic approach, which is the basis of an imbalance of forces inherited from colonialism and the balance of power between the states. "

One of them is the foreign debt.

"Since the 70 projects have been launched very interesting in favor of women's communities. But then governments have undermined these efforts by requiring back what they had given to international cooperation. And with interest, "says Chiodo yet.

Another example of this profound contradiction is what happened in Mozambique. "The women were able to get a table in consultation with the institutions on women's issues. This work is supported by the entire international community. But that was negated by privatization and the arrival of multinationals in Mozambique, "says Raffaella.

Sometimes in good faith, sometimes not ("alas cooperation is marketing, as we also saw with the campaign against child soldiers in Uganda Kony Stop"), non-governmental organizations fall into the trap of contradiction, the tense political and the international balance of power.

How can then carry out projects without running into this error?

"We must always start from their expertise," says Chiodo Uisp with that, as well as an initiative to revise the Paris-Dakar in key ecological, has set up a project in Senegal for women who work in fish processing. "We tried to help them understand what their needs are and then we start from there. And not only that. We were able to explain to the rest of the community the importance of their work. " A starting point, then. "What has put these women in a position to improve their condition." Without the need for external aid.(source)

Facebook Welcomes Newbies With Privacy Grand Tour

Facebook has rolled out a new round of security features intended to better educate new users about what information they can keep private and how.

Now, when a new user signs up for the site, they will have the option to go on an online privacy tour to get information on the site's privacy policies. It will include descriptions of how third-party applications and games access user data and suggestions on how to keep certain information as private as possible.

The tour also features information on tagging people or things in photos, including the notice that if someone tags you, you will be notified, and vice versa.

The updated features also allow Facebook users to select an audience for personal data including a user's school or employer. Existing users will be able to adjust these settings by choosing "update info" on their profile pages, and new users will receive a prompt to choose their settings during the sign-up process. The update started rolling out Friday.

Facebook did not respond to our request for further details.

Been Here Before

This is not Facebook's first round of privacy adjustments. The site has taken heat from consumer advocacy groups and privacy proponents before for allowing outsiders to access too much personal information and for not educating consumers on how their data could be used.

Facebook took the recommendations of the Irish Data Protection Commissioner's Office into consideration when developing the new privacy settings. Since its European operations are in Dublin, the office is the regulatory oversight committee for all users outside of the U.S. and Canada.

Last year, the commissioner of the agency looked into Facebook's privacy policies and recommended that it better educate users on how their information could be used.

It urged Facebook to reconsider some of the facial recognition software it uses to tag photos and warned that it should not rely on third-party developers to keep user information secure and private.

Facebook also settled a case with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission where the company agreed to change the way it keeps user information private.

This Time's the Charm?

This latest round of improvements is only a step in the right direction, especially since it is focusing on the site's newest joiners, said Renay San Miguel, chief content officer for Splash Media.

"Newbies to Facebook can be some of the biggest security risks regarding what information they might disclose to the social network, and how receptive some can be to social engineering tricks," he told TechNewsWorld. "Facebook is always going to have its privacy critics, and it does have a checkered history when it comes to this vital topic, but any attempts to give users more help with this should be appreciated and noted."

This latest round of improvements is a step in the right direction, said Internet marketing expert Brian Carter. It may have taken the company a while to get to where their privacy policies are good enough to please consumers, but it is certainly getting there, he pointed out.

"It's good to educate users how Facebook privacy features work," he told TechNewsWord. "I think there is a generational subset Facebook will always have trouble with -- some of those who grew up without computers find many interface features confusing. Many of the digital natives don't understand why someone wouldn't understand the features already."

That doesn't mean the tension surrounding Facebook and its privacy settings is over, Carter noted, but for now the company seems to be making privacy a priority. What's more, in an age when computer use is becoming more of a part of daily activities, it is crucial that the consumer take some of the responsibility in keeping their information private.

"In my opinion, the privacy issues were already dealt with previously," he observed. "A website a billion people's private information will always cause some worry for some people. What if hackers expose my private data, and so on. I think that for any Facebook privacy concerns, the ball was already in the user's court.(source)

Monks Found Drunk and Gambling

Monks are said to be the epitome of holiness, shunning earthly pleasures.

However, it seems that is not what all of them do behind closed doors.

Six monks from South Korea’s Jogye order were caught on film gambling, smoking and drinking!

The monk who released the video said that the six gambled away about US$875,000 in 13 hours of continuous playing!

Where would Buddhist monks get that much money?
The video was taken in a hotel room during one of the memorial services for one of their fellows.

Sadly, this controversy happened several days before Buddhists celebrate the birthday of the Buddha, one of the biggest events on the religion’s calendar.

Gambling outside of casinos also is prohibited in South Korea.

Love to His Son. A man Kept him on freezer

Love to our son it's really ood. But too love with him, can make a weird things. Xueming Tian, from Huangling, Chongqing, a town in southern China, really loves with his son and didn't want to far away from his son. So he put his son’s corpse in a freezer for six years. He even had generators to keep the freezer running in case of a blackout.

“It makes me feel as if my son has never left me,” Tian said. “When my wife and I want to talk to him, we can just pull up some chairs, lift the lid and chat with him as if he had never been taken from us.”

According to Tian, his clever son had just started college when they found out his son’s incurable leukemia.

“We were devastated. We visited many doctors, but there was nothing else we could do. I just prayed we would not lose him,” Mr. Tian said.

“When he died, I just couldn’t face never seeing my child again, so we decided to put him in a freezer to preserve his body.”

What’s more devastating is that this is not the first time that one of their kids has died. Mr Tian’s daughter also died after collapsing on a hot summer day.

“After the death of my daughter, I gave up my job so that I could spend more time with my wife and son.”

He also said that at first not a lot of people knew about it, and then rumors started to spread.

“Not many people knew at first what we had done as we did not want anyone to find out. We kept it a secret for a long time. But over the years, the news spread.”

When asked if they will bury him eventually, he said, “One day the time will come when his mother and I can no longer look after him and we will then give him a proper burial, but now is not the time. When the time is right, we will give him the most dignified burial and have a celebration of his life, and invite everyone to pay their respects to him. But later.”

Avoid Morning Sickness of Pregnancy

According to US and UK data from public health authorities, morning sicknessaffects over half of all pregnant mothers. It is generally related to an increase in estrogen levels, low blood sugar counts, and a greater susceptibility to some smells. More often, morning sickness will be present in the early hours of the morning and will ease up somewhat as the day goes on.

Morning sickness is also known as nausea gravidarum, nausea, vomiting of pregnancy (emesis gravidarum), or pregnancy sickness.

At times, morning sickness can be mild. However, the pregnant mother may at other times feel so nauseous that she will vomit.

Even though morning sickness can be extremely unpleasant, it is hardly ever severe enough to cause metabolic derangement. In most cases, morning sickness settles down by the end of the first trimester.

Morning sickness is more likely to occur during the first three months of a pregnancy.

Here are a few tips you can put in to practice to minimize unpleasant morning sickness symptoms:
Get plenty of rest.

You must ensure you get a good night´s sleep - wear a sleep mask, or even dark glasses, to block out as much light as possible. You might also consider a maternity body pillow that will properly help you support your back and stomach.

Sometimes taking naps during the day may help.

Avoid moving around straight after eating.

Get up slowly

Don't be in a hurry to get out of bed when you wake up. Take your time.

Avoid some types of foods

Avoid fatty and/or spicy foods. Avoid caffeine as well.

Food portion sizes - have small ones.

It is important to always have some kind of food in your stomach, as this will lower your chances of experiencing nausea - and if you do, most likely symptoms will be milder. If the stomach is empty, the acids have nothing to workon, except for the stomach lining, resulting in worsening nausea.

Have some salty crackers, peanut butter snacks, or some other protein snack before you get out of bed in the morning.

At breakfast, cold apple sauce, pears, bananas or any citrus fruit will help you feel satisfied early. Baked potatoes, although, less tasty for many, are highly nutritious. The fruit's potassium may help prevent morning sickness. At night, try eating something high in protein snack/meal before going to bed, as this will help regulate your blood-glucose levels.

Computer monitor flicker.

The rapid, almost unnoticeable flickering of the computer monitor could cause morning sickness. If you are susceptible to morning sickness due to monitor flicker, try to avoid using a computer completely. If you must, you should adjust the screen by making thefonts bold and larger and changing the background to a soft tan or pink color - this will help reduce eye strain.

Physical activity.

Some mothers may find it hard to move around if they feel lousy. However, being physically active has been found to improve symptoms in many people.

Fluid intake.

Being hydrated is crucial for good health, and very important during pregnancy. Some mothers with morning sickness may not feel like consuming their recommended eight glasses of water per day, especially if their stomachs seem not to let them. However, the more dehydrated you are, the more nauseated you will become.

If drinking water is hard, try adding apple cider vinegar and honey. Some mothers say flat Sprite helps, or decaffeinated cola. Sucking ice cubes made from water or fruit juice is also an effective method. The colder the drink, the easier it is to consume.

Ginger.

For many years, ginger has long been publicized as a stomach soother, and studies have shown that it may help relieve nausea symptoms. Sipping cold ginger ale, or adding a slice of raw ginger to water or tea may help sooth your stomach.

Snacks such as gingerbread, or ginger cookies will all effectively help prevent nausea.

Keep your mind occupied.

It is important to try to take your mind off the nauseous feelings. Finding things to do might not be easy. Reading a book, doing puzzles, watching television, playing cards, or going for short walks around the block will clear your mind and relax you. However, you must also listen to your body, and stop whenever necessary.

Wear loose and comfortable clothing.

Restrictive or tight clothing may exacerbate the symptoms of morning sickness. Studies have found that pregnant mothers with nausea who switched from tight to loose-fitting clothing reported either reduced symptoms or non at all.

Consider using children's vitamins instead of regular pre-natal vitamins.

Children's vitamins are usually easier to digest.

Sniff fresh scents.

Morning sickness is very much smell-associated - the pregnant mother becomes more sensitive to odors. Certain ugly smells, smells you cannot get away from, and potent smells such as perfumes can trigger an episode of unpleasant nausea. The most effective scents, according to self-reports, are lemon extract and/or rosemary.

Fresh rosemary is a very effective scent for morning sickness

Triggers

There are several triggers that can bring on an episode of nausea and a general feeling of being unwell due to morning sickness. Most people will soon identify what they are. Avoid them as much as you can, and your frequency of nausea and/or vomiting will reduce, as will severity of symptoms.

Acid reflux

Sometimes, the náusea and vomiting may be due to acid reflux. Taking antacid medication before going to bed may help reduce stomach acid levels, and the subsequent morning vomiting. Check with your doctor before buying any medication during pregnancy.

Iron pills or iron-containing multivitamins

Some pregnant women may become nauseous because of the iron supplements they have been told to take. Talk to your doctor and ask him/her to recommend a slower-release form, or even possible a lower dosage.

Acupressure

Applying pressure on specific points on the body to control symptoms has been shown to help some women with morning sickness. In this case, it involves wearing a special band on your forearm.Hyperemesis gravidarum - excessive vomiting during pregnancy. This may lead todehydration and malnutrition. A woman with hyperemesis gravidarum may weigh over 5% less than she did before she was pregnant.

About 1 in every 300 pregnant women develop hyperemesis gravidarum. The condition does not usually persist beyond the 20th week of pregnancy. The doctor may recommend dietary changes, plenty of rest and the use of antacids. In severe cases the patient may need to receive fluids and nutrition intravenously.

Nails released from woman body

Hospital medical officer Nur Hidayah Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Thursday had issued dozens of nails and needles in the feet Supiyati, patients who suffer from a strange disease.

"A total of 12 nails and needles out while patients in the ward. Then of operating results on Wednesday (26/9) night were 70 nails and needles, so that the total spikes and needles are removed from the patient's body as much as 82 pieces," said the director of the hospital Nur Hidayah, dr Arrus Ferry in Bantul Thursday.

Supiyati a strange disease Harjomulyo origin, tribe Madang, East Oku, South Sumatra, and in the period of about 1.5 years, more than 2,000 out of the nails and needles all over his hands and feet.

After undergoing surgery at 21.00 pm until 23.00 pm on Wednesday (26/9), hospital medical teams Nur Hidayah successfully raised 70 spikes and 12 needles are embedded in both legs Supiyati, and most of the metal is rusted.

According to doctors, the first day of treatment in the hospital Nur Hidayah, Tuesday (25/9) afternoon, a total of 12 nails and needles out of the second leg Supiyati naturally, and five nails out when Supiyati in the Emergency room (ER).

Arrus said of the X-rays thoroughly after undergoing surgery, it sure no foreign objects such as metal still embedded in the body Supiyati, however, for non-metallic foreign body, the hospital does not guarantee 100 percent.

"Because, in the operation, the team also raised a long curler coagulating and glass flakes detected X-rays, if just a hair, so it may not be apparent when X-rayed," he said.

Still, he said, in an unspecified time, Supiyati still have to undergo intensive treatment in hospital Nur Hidayah for physical recovery is still weak.

He said to prevent harmful foreign objects both metal and non-metal back into the body Supiyati, since yesterday the team Husnul Khitmah Care (Hu Care) RS Nur Hidayah has provided spiritual guidance.

According Arrus, causing the entry of foreign objects into the body Supiyati still a question in western medical science, and to try to heal Supiyati to completion, Nur Hidayah RS method combines eastern medicine (rukyah).

"Alleged temporary entry of foreign objects into the body of the patient was due to the role of the spirit or jinn. In Islam, we believe in the existence of the jinn," he said.

Titanic with the Arabic Victim

One hundred years have passed since the sinking of the Titanic, considered the worst disaster the seas have ever witnessed in the twentieth century. In the middle of the extensive coverage this shocking event has received, hardly anything has been mentioned about the Arab passengers that perished on the ship.

In addition to the list of victims which reveals all the Arabs who died in the tragedy were Lebanese except one Egyptian, the proof of Arab presence on the ship was evident in the 1997 blockbuster movie directed by James Cameron.

In the film “Titanic,” an Arabic speaking mother is heard urging her daughter to hurry when she ship starts to sink. The Lebanese accent with which she says “Come! Come!” in Arabic shows her roots.

Her husband replies, also with a Lebanese accent, “Wait! Let me see what we can do,” while panicking in one of the third class corridors. Behind the Lebanese family appears the film’s protagonist Leonardo Di Caprio, also an inmate of the third class, running with Kate Winslet in tow.

The Lebanese husband is seen flipping through the pages of a book that contains a layout of the ship in order to look for a way out. Other than this scene, which lasted for only six seconds, nothing was heard of Arabs who died in this tragedy even though the world keeps remembering the victims on every anniversary.

This clip from the movie is shown on Al Arabiya followed by real footage from the only video recorded inside the ship since it sailed on its way to New York. The video was discovered 27 years ago.

Titanic tragedy felt in Lebanon

The village of Kafr Mishki in the Rashaya District southeast of the Lebanese capital Beirut suffered the most in the Titanic tragedy. The village, whose population does not exceed 500, lost 13 of its residents.

“The church of Kafr Mishki will hold Sunday a Mass for the victims and the congregation will observe a minute of silence to mourn their death,” village mayor Khalil al-Sikli told Al Arabiya in a phone interview.

Sikli added that more than 11,000 natives of Kafr Mishki have immigrated to several parts of the world and are currently scattered over five continents.

“More than 6,000 from Kafr Mishki are in Ottawa, Canada alone.”

The village of Hardine in the Batroun District in northern Lebanon comes second as far as lives lost in Titanic are concerned.

“Hardine lost 11 of its residents in the Titanic [disaster],” the village mayor Bakhous Sarkis Assaf told Al Arabiya.

“When the ship started sinking in the first hours of dawn, those 11 passengers gathered in one corner and started reciting verses one of them improvised in the style of Lebanese vernacular poetry.”

According to Assaf, who says the story has been narrated down generations, the verses Hardine residents recited right before their death were: “O Hardine, weep and lament the death of 11 of your youths who did not exceed 25 years old. Five of them are single and the others are married. None of them is old. They’re all 25.”

Like Kafr Mishki, Hardine will hold a Mass in its church to remember its victims in Titanic, Assaf added.

“I just wish that the Lebanese government would also remember those forgotten victims especially at the 100th anniversary of the tragedy.”

Assaf from Pennsylvania told the story of a 19-year-old boy called Daher Shadid Abi Shadid from the village of Abrine in northern Lebanon. Abi Shadid accidentally killed a girl from his village while experimenting with his gun.

“Fearing the retaliation of the girl’s family, Abi Shadid left the village not knowing where to go until his uncle, who lived in Pennsylvania, sent him some money and told him to travel to the U.S.,” Assaf told Al Arabiya.

Shadid first went to Marseille in France and from there boarded the Titanic which stopped at the UK to pick up more passengers before sailing to New York.

“Shadid escaped a fate in Lebanon only for his uncle to receive his corpse from the Titanic,” he said, again recounting a story as told throughout generations.

One of the most striking details revealed to Al Arabiya during the search for details about Arab victims on the Titanic was provided by Syrian-American writer Laila Salloum Elias who wrote a book titled “The Dream and then the Nightmare.”

Elias relied on Arab newspapers published in New York at the time of the ship’s sinking as information for her book. One such story came from the then famous al-Hoda newspaper.

According to Elias, who also listened to testimonies from victims’ families, several of the Lebanese victims were shot dead for refusing to obey the orders of the ship’s security personnel.

One was killed for trying to get on a life boat reserved for first class passengers.

How to respond the Cancer detection

After the initial shock, the next reaction is to seek information. Many will talk to their family doctor, friends and family, and seek information on the internet or in book stores in order to learn as much as possible about the type of cancer they have and the best medical specialists to seek out. This is a very daunting task as few individuals are knowledgeable about cancer and its terminology or about what constitutes excellent cancer care. Needless to say, the stress of the diagnosis makes it doubly hard to process information and make the best choices.

In order to give you some grounding during this initial phase of coping with cancer, I have prepared the following list of essential things that anyone newly diagnosed with cancer should know.

1. Understand the diagnosis. There are many different types of cancer, even within the same broad category. For example, in non-small cell lung cancer, the most common types are adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma and they are treated differently. Breast cancer has three general categories: hormone receptor positive (for the estrogen and/or progesterone receptors), Her2 positive, and triple negative (hormone receptors and Her2 are negative or not present); the three types are often treated very differently. Nearly every type of cancer has different sub-types and it is important to know which one you have.

2. Do not jump the gun and think the worst. Not all cancers of the same type act the same. Some “bad” cancers may be curable. Get all the facts straight and get them only from the experts who treat the disease, not from physicians who are not cancer experts and not from well-meaning friends and family who “know someone with…”

3. Meet first with local specialists. What other tests are needed to fully determine the stage or extent of the cancer in the body? Do you need surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation? Have these questions answered first in your community, near where you live or work. Physicians that specialize in treating cancer have been highly trained whether they practice in a community setting or at a large medical center. Since cancer treatment may not be a one shot deal but can involve six months or more of therapy, it is important to make these treatments as convenient and safe as possible. Having a good cancer center close to home can make a world of difference.

4. Consider a second opinion. The need for a second opinion depends on the quality of the first opinions you receive and on your preferences as a patient. Do not think that the grass is greener elsewhere and that an incurable cancer is curable at a more heavily advertised center. If the cancer specialists in your area have an excellent reputation and you like their approach to you and your cancer, then you may not feel that another opinion is necessary. On the other hand, if you feel that surgery is better performed at a high volume center, for example, or you just want the peace of mind that comes with confirmation of treatment recommendations, then a second opinion is right for you. The best doctors do not dissuade patients from seeking other opinions nor from receiving cancer care close to home when that is more convenient.

The best food and Where to Eat

1. st place to eat: Oysters.
Strangfor Lough, Northern IrelandRichard Corrigan reckons Strangford Lough oysters are the world’s best. Photograph: John Smith/Corbis
"If I were to die tomorrow, I'd walk to Strangford, get a couple of bottles of really cold Chablis, and eat as many Strangford Lough oysters as I could. Then I'd die very happily indeed. There are very few places you can get Strangford Lough oysters now. Last time, we bought some from a company called Cuan and went to a beautiful local pub and opened them ourselves. The speed of the tidal movement, and the huge nutrient richness of the water, is what makes them so good. The only accompaniment you need is lemon juice and black pepper: you'd never ever use vinegar and shallots or Tabasco."

2. Best place to eat: Aubergines Ta Kioupa, Athens

"The aubergines were slow- baked for six hours, brought to the table whole, and skinned in front of us. They took out the flesh, crisscrossed the aubergines with two knives, and then added whipped cream with hazelnuts, lemon, sweet pepper, oil, feta cheese, salt and pepper.

3. Best place to eat: Hamburgers Little Owl, New York

There are many fine hamburgers in New York, even the most mediocre of which would put its British counterparts to shame. But the best is the bacon cheeseburger at a small Greenwich Village bistro called Little Owl. "This sandwich is so copiously juicy, so rich with precious bodily fluids," says Josh Ozersky, author of The Hamburger: A History, "that it practically haemorrhages onto the plate. But the meat, which is a signature blend from New York's virtuoso hamburger maker Pat La Frieda, is perfectly paired with a bun of uniquely moist and yielding character. It's by far the best cheeseburger in this or any other city."

4. Best place to eat: Zabaglione La Cinzianelle

The best place in the world to eat zabaglione, according to Giorgio Locatelli, is at his uncle's restaurant, La Cinzianell, in Corgeno, northern Italy. "As the sun goes down behind Monte Rosa and it starts getting a bit chilly, the thing I enjoy most is the zabaglione prepared by my cousin Maurizio…"

5. Best place to eat: Pho Pho 24, VietnamVietnam’s signature dish Pho at 'Pho 24' in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Pho, a noodle soup with thin slices of meat (usually beef but sometimes chicken), is Vietnam's signature dish, and the issue of who makes it best is as tangled as white rice noodles in tasty broth. The Hanoi streets throw up a lot of persuasive contenders, such as the shack at 172 Ton Duc Thang Street. However, the sleek chain restaurant Pho 24, with branches around the country and across Asia, produces Vietnam's most reliably good pho. The meat is of a consistently high quality – a rarity in Vietnam – and the stock impresses even the hardest-to-please critics.

7. Best place to eat: Macaroons Laduree, Paris

The original M Ladurée opened his bakery on the rue Royale in 1862. In 1930 his grandson invented the double-decker macaroon – two shells of the meringue-like pastry held together by creamy ganache filling. Ladurée has produced the definitive macaroons ever since. In recent years the company has opened shops around the world, but the original is by far the best.

8. Best place to eat: Roast Chicken L'Ami Louis, Paris

This Paris fixture, open since 1924, is the ultimate French bistro. Heads of state (Clinton, Gorbachev) and cultural giants (Welles, Hemingway) have come here to feast on sumptuous roast chicken, served whole with matchstick pommes frites and a simple green salad. It's touristy and expensive and the decor is a bit clichéd, but such details become trivial once the chicken (which inspired Simon Hopkinson to write his much-loved Roast Chicken and Other Stories) turns up at the table.

9. Best place to drink: Milkshakes Fosselman's, Los Angeles

The ingredients for the perfect milkshake are extremely good ice cream mixed with just the right amount of milk, and a classic American setting. The award-laden Fosselman's, in the LA suburb of Alhambra, has been offering both since 1924. The milkshakes, made with home-made ice cream, taste like you'd expect milkshakes to taste in the movies. Make a beeline for the double-chocolate malt.

10. Best place to eat: Texas barbecue Snow's, Texas

The title of best BBQ joint in Texas is hotly contested in a state where the consumption of charred meats is as serious as religion. Texas Monthlymagazine does the definitive annual poll. Most recently, the magazine awarded the title to Snow's, a rank outsider that has been trading a mere five years. Run by a former rodeo clown and an elderly lady named Tootsie, the restaurant only opens on Saturday mornings and consists of a small number of tables around a smoking pit.

How to Use Eye shadow

1. Eye Shadow Brush
A good brush is the key of perfection using eye shadow. Do not hesitate to invest in having the best make-up brushes. Brushes of fur is better than synthetic brushes. Brush can be perfectly natural blend eye shadow around the eyes.

2. Concealer
Skin color is usually darker eyes than other facial skin. So that the color of eye shadow does not change when applied to the eye, then you must neutralize the eye color by using a concealer.

3. Eye Shadow Base
The secret to long-lasting eye shadow all day is to apply eye shadow base before using the eye shadows. Base textured eye shadow a little greasy, so it can stick to the perfect eye shadow on the eyes. You can change the base eye shadow with petroleum jelly. Rub the base eye shadow or the petroleum jelly on the crease of the eye using a finger, so as not to clot. However, if you use a type of creamy eye shadow, eye base shdow no longer used.

4. Eye Shadow Application
Choose the color of eye shadow and event needs. Eye shadow shades of brown, pink and peach are suitable for daytime appearance and make-up work. As for the party you can use black, or shades of eye shadow colors. Whatever color you choose, you need to know how the application:

- Use bright colors or younger at the crease of the eye using a small eye shadow brush.

- Use a medium color in the middle of the eye. Mix the colors together with a larger brush, so as not to be seen the line between young and medium colors.

- Use a dark eye shadow color on the outside of the eye, to make more visible the eye contour. Apply using a small brush.

- Apply appropriate color of light in the brow with a small brush. This makes the form look neater brows and brow bones become more prominent.

- End the use of eye liner to emphasize lashes. Finally, use mascara to the lashes to be more tapering.

How to avoid Acne

1. Keep your face clean. Whether or not you have acne, it's important to wash your face daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil from the skin surface. Use warm, not hot, water and a mild facial cleanser. Using a harsh soap (like deodorant body soap) can injure the already inflamed skin and cause more irritation.

Avoid scrubbing your skin harshly with a washcloth, exfoliating glove, or loofah (a coarse-textured sponge). Gently wash it with your clean hands or a very soft cloth. Always rinse well, and then dry your face with a clean towel. (Toss the towel in the laundry hamper, as dirty towels spread bacteria.)

2. Moisturize.
Many topical acne products contain ingredients that dry the skin, so always use a moisturizer that minimizes dryness and skin peeling. A gel-based moisturizer usually works well for oily skin. If you have dry skin, try a moisturizing cream or lotion. Combination skin may need two products (cream or lotion for the dry section; a gel for the oily part). Always hydrate your skin with water before you moisturize it.

3. Try an over-the-counter acne product.
Topical (those applied to the skin) acne products may contain ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial agent with a drying effect, or salicylic acid, an agent that sloughs off skin and gets rid of bacteria. Start with a small amount at first. Then increase or decrease the amount and how often you apply it, depending on how much peeling or drying you have. Use these ointments with caution if you have sensitive skin. Benzoyl peroxide can cause redness and scaling of the skin. It can also bleach your clothes, towel, and hair.

4. Use makeup sparingly. During a breakout, try to avoid wearing foundation, powder, or blush. If you do wear makeup, wash it off at the end of the day. If possible, select oil-free cosmetics without added dyes and chemicals. Water-based cosmetics are available. Read the ingredients list on the product label before buying.

5. Watch what you put on your hair. Avoid using fragrances, oils, and harsh chemicals on your hair. These ingredients can drip on the face, blocking the skin pores and irritating the skin. Stick to a gentle shampoo and conditioner. Oily hair can add to the oil on your face, so wash hair often, especially during a pimple outbreak. If your hair is long, keep it pulled off your face.

6. Keep your hands off your face. Avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can result in infection and scarring.

How To Get Taller

1. Understand that most of your height will be determined by genetics. Height is a polygeneic trait, meaning that it's influenced by several different genes. Having two short parents doesn't necessarily mean you'll be short, just as two tall parents won't make you a towering giant. However, if most of the people on both sides of your family are short, odds are that you'll be short, too. Don't be discouraged, though - the truth is that you can't know how tall you'll be until you reach full physical adulthood in your mid-20s.

2. Avoid growth-stunting factors.
There might not be a lot you can do to increase your height, but you can take several steps to make sure your natural height isn't shortened by environmental influences. Drugs and alcohol are both thought to contribute to stunted growth if they're ingested while you're young, and malnutrition can keep you from reaching your full height, as well.

3. Get plenty of sleep. Research suggests that growing teenagers and pre-teens need between 8.5 and 11 hours of sleep every night. This is because your body grows and regenerates tissue while you're at rest. Make your sleeping environment as calm as possible, and try to eliminate loud nosies and unnecessary light. If you have trouble falling asleep, try taking a warm bath or drinking a hot cup of chamomile tea before bed.

4. Eat right. Ensuring that you're getting all the vitamins and minerals your body requires will help you grow to your full height. Take a supplement targeted at your age group with breakfast each morning, and try to incorporate certain foods into your diet. Here are some specific suggestions:
Get plenty of calcium (found in dairy products and green vegetables). Calcium promotes bone growth, and can help prevent osteoporosis.

Get sufficient vitamin D (which can be obtained through eating fish, alfalfa, or mushrooms, or spending more time in the sun). Vitamin D promotes bone and muscle growth in children, and a deficiency has been shown to stunt growth and cause weight gain in teenage girls . If you don't like fish, consider a fish liver oil supplement.

Take in lots of protein (from meat, eggs, tofu or legumes). Proteins provide the essential building blocks your body needs in order to grow. At least one (preferably two) of your meals each day should include a protein.

Up your zinc intake (oysters, chocolate, peanuts, eggs, peas, asparagus and supplements). A zinc deficiency can cause stunted growth in children . The best way to make sure you meet your body's daily need is by taking a vitamin or supplement that includes zinc.

Eat on a regular schedule. You should be eating 3 meals a day, with small snacks between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and dinner. Try to schedule these events at roughly the same time each day.

5. Keep your immune system strong.
Some childhood illnesses can stunt your growth. Most of them can be avoided by the routine immunizations you may have had as a baby, but stay on the safe side by ingesting plenty of Vitamin C (found in citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits and lemons) and getting plenty of rest as soon as you notice that you feel sick.

6. Practice good posture.
Rolling your shoulders or hunching over can actually affect the curvature of your growing spine (and not in a good way). Keep your shoulders back, chin high, and hips over your feet. Walk with purpose instead of slouching or slinking, and try to sit up straight when you're in chairs. Even if you're not actually getting taller, good posture will make you look taller.

7. Cultivate confidence. Being taller might be nice, but it can't make up for a general lack of confidence. Try to talk yourself into feeling comfortable in your own skin, and being generally happy with your looks no matter how tall you turn out to be. A positive attitude will more than make up for any lacking height.

8. Visit a medical professional.
If you're from a tall family and you're not growing by your mid-teens, or if your height hasn't changed much from before puberty to during puberty, then it's a good idea to see a doctor. Conditions that can stunt your growth (such as human growth hormone deficiency or autoimmune diseases) are fairly rare, but they do exist. If you're eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of rest but you're still not growing, then it's time to consult a doctor.
Consider seeing a doctor if you're a short adult. Though there are several childhood conditions (such as rickets) that can result in a short height as an adult, you should still ask a doctor about it. There may be ways to make sure that your bones and organs are healthy even though you didn't grow to full height.

How to Reduce Menstruation Cramps

1. Stick to a healthy diet. This includes plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as plenty of water. Attempt to keep track of how particular foods affect your period. Plenty of fiber is particularly useful in cleansing the body of excess estrogen (which can lead to heavier and more painful periods and cramps).

2. Take dietary supplements. Some studies indicate that Vitamin E, thiamine and Omega-3 supplements may reduce menstrual cramps. [1] Zinc and calcium have been found to reduce cramps, bloating and related PMS symptoms. [2] Calcium and magnesium reduce muscle soreness, but must be taken for 2-3 months every day before producing a noticeable effect.

3. Make sure to have regular health check-ups to ensure health. Mention to doctors any menstrual problems you feel you might be having, and take into consideration how conditions such as IBS or anemia may make you feel during menstruation. In addition, menstrual cramps can be caused by an underlying disorder such as endometriosis or fibroids, in which case the surgical removal of tissue may be required to help alleviate your symptoms.

4. Avoid Xenoestrogens and Phytoestrogens. Some new scientific evidence points to xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens actually causing menstrual cramps. Xenoestrogens are simply "foreign" estrogens that are not really estrogen but mimic estrogen. Xenoestrogens can be chemicals present in items used in every day life such as lotions, shampoos, and laundry detergent. Phytoestrogens are plant estrogen's that can be found in some herbs.Xenoestrogens and Phytoestrogens can cause Magnesium and Vitamin B deficiencies. A Magnesium deficiency can cause muscles to cramp. A Vitamin B deficiency can cause Neuropathy. Think Restless Leg Syndrome.

Topical Natural Progesterone can also counteract xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens, if the body load of xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens is not too high. If the body load of xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens is too high, then topical Natural Progesterone may actually temporarily increase menstrual camps.

5. Use painkillers around the clock as soon as you notice your period.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs), medicines such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin etc.) or naproxen (Aleve) actually reduce menstrual blood flow not just the pain associated with menses. Acetaminophen, while helpful for the pain, is not nearly as effective as the NSAIDs. Many women find that painkillers can decrease menstrual pain. If you can't tolerate ibuprofen or naproxen sodium, simple aspirin or acetaminophen can help a lot. The effectiveness of NSAIDs builds up over time, so if your cramps are so severe that the painkillers don't do much, start taking ibuprofen every six hours up to a couple of days before you expect to get your period and continue until your cramps abate. If over-the-counter NSAIDs do not help, your doctor may prescribe a prescription NSAID such as mefenamic acid (Ponstel).

6. Take hormonal birth control. Birth control pills contain hormones which prevent ovulation and reduce the severity of menstrual cramps.  This is why your doctor may recommend birth control pills for menstrual cramps. The same hormones can also be delivered through injection, a patch you wear on your skin or in a flexible ring you insert into your vagina.

7. Lie in different positions.
Laying on your side with your knees tucked into your chest can temporarily reduce the pain. Some people say to lay face down on the bed, with your face in a pillow. Stick your butt up in the air. This will relieve gas and help you feel better. Also try lying on your back, keeping your feet elevated by pillows.

8. Try placing a hot water bottle or heating pad on your abdomen. This helps ease your muscles. A hot wash cloth or even just a warm blanket can also help. According to the Mayo Clinic, this appears to be just as effective as over-the-counter pain killers. Also try taking a hot bath of shower . If you don't have a heating pad, you can make one.

9. Do some mild exercise.
Walk around the neighborhood, run on the treadmill, go ride your bike, or any other exercises you enjoy. This will increase blood flow which will help the cramps go away.

10.Use the body's own pain-killers. If you're worried about over-use of traditional pain-killers, or they are not available, you may also wish to make use of the body's own pain-management mechanisms.

Distract yourself from the pain. Distraction is one of the most powerful and readily available painkillers. So if you have intense cramps, do something that normally totally absorbs you, such as socializing with good friends, reading a book, playing a computer game, or spending time on facebook.

Get regular exercise. Exercise increases your overall serotonin levels. Serotonin is the body's own painkiller, and also makes us feel happier.

Sexual activities do help anything with the menstrual cycle. Try to get as much as possible. Orgasm releases oxytocin, which causes uterine contractions, which eases pain.

11. Try acupuncture, which, according to the Mayo Clinic, may help to relieve pain associated with menstrual cramps.
Acupuncture has been used as a pain relief method for over 2,000 years. Hair-thin needles are placed into the skin on specific locations on your body. The needles do not cause pain for most people.

12. Engage in stress reduction activities such as yoga, massage and meditation as they may ease the pain of menstrual cramps.

13. Have a glass or 2 of wine; alcohol thins blood
.

14. Try to wear clothing that doesn't pressure your abdomen, such as all-in-ones.
They are comfortable, warm and help reduce period cramps caused by tight clothing. Dance Direct sell some good-quality ones.

Traditional Games for Children

In this era children are going to play games in gadget and othe technological things. They forget to play traditional games that is suitable with their age.

Here are the list and brief way in playing traditional games for children.

Duck, Duck, Goose
The children sit in a circle. One child is "it." He walks around the circle. He pats each child on the head. He says, "Duck, duck, duck..." as he touches each child. When he says, "Goose!" the child he touches gets up and chases him around the circle.

The child who gets to the empty place first sits down. The other child is "it". Sometimes, the child he tagged catches the child who was "it". Then he has to sit in the "stink pot!" (the center of the circle). He can't get out until another child who is "it" gets caught and gets put into the stink pot. Little children love this game!

Seven-up
A game' children like to play on rainy days at school is called "Seven-up." On rainy days, we can't go outside to play at recess time. Instead, the children sit at their desks. The teacher chooses seven children to be "it." Then the teacher says, "Thumbs up." The children who are sitting down rest their faces on their folded arms so they cannot see. They make a fist, with one thumb sticking up.
The children who are "it" tip-toe quietly and touch someone on the thumb. Then they go back in front of the class. The teacher calls, "Seven up." Everyone looks up. The children who were touched try to guess who touched their thumb. If the child guesses right, she or he gets to be "it" and the other child sits down.

Freeze Tag
Someone is 'IT'. 'IT' tries to tag people. Everyone else is running around. When 'IT' tags someone the personfreezes in whatever position you got tagged in. And when you get tagged 3 times then you are the person who becomes 'IT'. When you are frozen, someone can 'unfreeze' you by touching you.

Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar?
A fun game that is common in the United States. Everyone sits in a circle. Before the game starts everyone is given a number, but not in order around the circle, that is kept in front of each person. Names are usually used. The teacher or leader starts a rhythmic pattern such as clap, tap thighs, clap, tap thighs, ... at a slow pace in the beginning. The leader says, "Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? again and again in the same rhythm as the clapping and tapping. The leader will start by saying "# 1 or ________(name) stole the cookie from the cookie jar." That person says, "Who me?" Everyone says, "Yes you!" The person says, "Couldn't be!" Everyone says, "Then who?" The person says, "#2 or _________ (name) stole the cookie from the cookie jar." And on it goes. The object of the game is to keep the rhythm going and the talking, without breaks.

Pin the Tail on the Donkey
This game is for young children. It is played at birthday parties. There is a poster of a donkey. The donkey has no tail. There are numbered tails. The children line up. Each child gets a turn.

For his turn, he puts on a blindfold. All the children make sure he cannot see! He is turned around one time. Then he tries to find the poster and pin his tail in the right place. Everyone laughs! It is funny to see a donkey with tails on its nose, back, and ears. Some tails are not even on the poster! The tail closest to the right spot wins!

Relay Games
It is fun for older children. You need two equal teams. Each child needs a toothpick. (You can also use a spoon with an egg or ping pong ball) The toothpick is held in the mouth. Each team needs one "lifesaver" candy with a hole in the middle. Each child must pass the lifesaver candy from her toothpick to the toothpick in the mouth of the next child on her team. No hands allowed! The toothpicks wiggle. The lifesaver slips. The children make REALLY funny faces! It is funniest when children line up girl-boy-girl-boy.

Hide and Go Seek
Any number of children can play. One child hides their eyes and counts up to 10. all other children hide. When they finish, the person says: "Ready or not, here I come".

Telephone
The game " Telephone " is a simple game. You start off by getting lots of friends and parents, a total of about 15 people. Then you all hold hands and get into a big circle. While still holding hands, stretch out until your arms hurt. Then you sit down and let go of each other's hands. The oldest person should think of a message. When the oldest person thinks of a message they pass it to the person sitting next to them, then the person sitting next to them passes the message to the next person and so on. If one person should not understand the message they may say operator and the person sitting in front of them repeats the message to that person again. If anyone needs to say operator, they can only say it once. When the last person gets the message they stand up and they say the message out loud. If the message is right, then the person who thought of the message says "yes" and the last person wins the game. If the message is wrong, then the person who thought up the message wins the game. The point of this game is not winning. The point of the game is to see if the last person can say the message correctly. The fun thing about this game is that usually the last person never say's the message correctly. It is fun to hear the message all scrambled up.

Hopscotch

There can be any number of players, and a stone is the only object you need to play it. If you are the first player, you draw a figure on the floor with a piece of chalk. Then you throw the stone inside square one. After that, you have to hop into each square, starting with square 1 and ending in square eight. If there are two squares together, you jump landing with one foot in each square; but if there is only one square, you must hop on one foot. When you reach squares 7 and 8, you have to turn back jumping again until square 1. Then you continue playing the next level. This time you begin by throwing the stone into square number 2. In the next level, you throw it into square number 3. You continue until level 8. The first player who does all the levels is the winner. The most important thing is that the player has to skip the square where the stone is.

Special Rules of the Game

The game has some rules. If an of the following things happen, the player has to stop and another player takes a turn.
